| Most important issue: |
The most important issue is keeping New Brighton?s tax base stable, ensuring the city?s financial health. It is important to keep property taxes realistic for our residents, which includes a growing population of senior citizens on fixed incomes. The business community also needs to be considered because they are impacted by the city?s economic health, they pay taxes, they are generally small businesses and they provide jobs for many of our residents. As a City Council we have to be mindful of these concerns while providing all residents with reasonable and value-ladened services, despite general economic instability. |
