| Most important issue: | I was elected to the Hopkins City Council in 2001. When we lost local government aid funds of over $1 million per year, we were faced with a dilemma: raise taxes or reduce services. We managed to maintain a level of service that makes our residents happy to be here. We are among the communities with the lowest change in tax rates from one year to the next. Wise redevelopment continues to increase the number of property-tax payers, effectively lowering everyone?s share. A 2007 survey reveals that residents are happy with the City Council. The number one response to ?What?s wrong with Hopkins?? was ?Nothing.? |
