Most important issue: We need a more business friendly environment. As a 3rd term mayor and 16 year city councilman we have proudly promoted existing businesses and successfully recruited new ones. I understand city budgets, local government aid issues, and the interrelation of county and state agencies. Our small business owners; family, friends and neighboring farmers, are the hardest working people in Minnesota. They provide employment, invest in their business and communities and provide goods and services making a community vibrant. Securing fair education funding for Greater Minnesota schools and focusing to create more efficient government are also very important.

In light of high gasoline prices, the Legislature should repeal the gas tax increases enacted in February. Have mixed feelings
The state should require cities to allow law enforcement officers to inquire about people's immigration status during routine police work, such as traffic stops. Strongly agree
Legislators should rule out tax increases during the next session. Strongly agree
The state should put a cap on tuition increases at state colleges and universities and pressure the University of Minnesota to do the same. Somewhat agree
The state should provide more funding for K-12 education, even if it means reductions in other areas of the state budget or raising taxes. Somewhat disagree
