Background: Judge since 1995; Currently Chief Judge - 4th Judicial District (Hennepin County); past Presiding Judge in Family Court; Phi Beta Kappa graduate U of M; Cum Laude graduate University of Minnesota Law School; trial lawyer Mackall, Crounse & Moore 1976-1995; married, two children, two grandchildren.

Most important issue: Continuing to ensure equal access to justice for all Hennepin County residents is the most important issue. With this year's court budget cuts still fresh in their minds, my 61 judge colleagues asked me to take the helm as Chief Judge in Hennepin County and lead them during the next two, difficult years. Priorities include restoring reduced jury service fees, replenishing staff at the Domestic Abuse Service Center and Self-help Service Center, restoring alternative dispute resolution programs, and continuing to develop programs that protect citizens by targeting repeat offenders, such as the new DWI and Mental Health Courts.
