Most important issue: I am running against Judge Joseph Carter to improve the quality of Minnesota's judiciary. Judges' decisions critically impact people's lives, and judges must understand that voters are watching those decisions. In 2004, Judge Carter, without appointing a guardian ad litem, decided to award a convicted child sex offender custody of an unrelated nine-year-old girl (his ex-girlfriends daughter). Weeks after Judge Carters troubling decision, the child reported that the offender was sexually assaulting her - a crime for which he is now in prison. If elected, I pledge to use my experience and good judgment to make careful, impartial, and well reasoned decisions.
