| Most important issue: | First we must work to stabilize funding. This requires working with our legislators to eliminate the cyclical nature of funding. In conjunction with this, we must maintain a general fund balance, the same as the rainy day fund a family keeps, that can be used when funding slows down from the state. If a new program is put in place, then the school board must ensure that funding is in place in order to maintain the program. Also, stable funding helps to keep class sizes stable. The other major challenges facing our school district are closing the achievement gap and changing demographics. |
